Philosophical debate on the implications of space travel.
General audience, outreach.
ASTROPHYSICS MASTERCLASS (February)
Organized by the University of Sussex, UK.
An undergraduate-style lecture about the lectromagnetic Spectrum delivered to A-level students.
The PhD students of the University of Sussex are eager of knowledge. We have recently created our weekly Reading Club whose main purpose is to learn about topics out of our own research work.
The long term goal is to understand The Black Hole Firewall Debate.
In order to achieve our aims, we start from the very basic foundation of General Relativity.
1. The first session was delivered by one of our collegues, A.E., and it was focused on vectors, dual vectors, tensors, indices, change of coordinates and the metric tensor. Some useful literature: Wald, Carroll or notes by Ed Bertschinger.
2. The second session on foundations of General Relativity was devoted to concepts of covariant derivative, connections (first video) and geodesics and parallel transport (second video). I divided the lecture in some overview of the talk, a more technical part and a final example.
